Good Day, it's Tuesday, November 6, 2007, and welcome back to Good Day, BWIA (GDBWIA) - a light compendium of news, items of interest, irreverent commentary, and occasional light analysis relating to Broadband Wireless Internet Access (including WiMAX, public access Wi-Fi, etc.).
Today's BWIA News is, regrettably, very short shrift due to part of a morning spent in good conversation fueled by good coffee followed by a brisk walk accompanied by Editorial Assistant Mackenzie to enjoy a bout of feeling energetic and full of life. Once back in my office, I tackled a small project to streamline GDBWIA.
By the way, the new name for this compendium is Good Day, BWIA. Remember, that's Good Day... BWIA... not another unfortunate acronym "GD". The new name kind of rhymes, and Good Morning, BWIA is irritatingly incongruous to you readers, and to me, when I sometimes don't get GDBWIA out in the morning.
Today's Clearwire Modem Weather Report - Hollywood Hill, Woodinville, Washington - Solid 4 Bars.
BWIA Short Shrift - Google Gphone is unveiled to be, so far, a Software Development Kit. BWIA takeaway is that any resulting device will be, by design, intent, and targeted user/customer, an (Broadband) Internet-centric device. In passing, I saw an interesting speculation - does the Gphone / "Android" Software Development Kit make it possible to come out with a vastly simplified PC - something the form factor of a vastly simplified Internet-centric computer that's designed for fixed use rather than mobile use? Very interesting question!
Again, apologies - I'll try to catch up in tomorrow's GDBWIA.
Intermods: Google's Time Killers Of The Day - I love Google... a bit too much at times, like iGoogle, (oh... the widgets!... but why can't I see a few of my customized Google News sections there?), I just got "Gmail New Version"ed, and Gmail now (officially!) does IMAP.
