Apologies For Slow Postings

Apologies for the lack of postings of late.

After WISPCON 2007 concluded about Noon on Friday, I spent the remainder of the day traveling from New Orleans back to Seattle, during which a stuffy nose that morning rapidly escalated into full-blown "body aches / shivering chills / lungs-feeling-like-glass-shards coughing jags" cold and/or flu.

It's been years since I've had one that bad. And Yes, I did have my flu shot this year.

I'll be catching up on postings in the next few days now that after five days, I'm feeling much more normal.

93 Unique BWIA Vendors... And The Deadpool

I just updated the Broadband Wireless Internet Access Vendors List - www.bwiavendors.com/2007/02/bwia_vendors_up_2.html. They and I have identified 93 different vendors offering systems for Broadband Wireless Internet Access. It's aptly subtitled "The WISPs Speak" because I posted notice about yesterday's version on three Wireless ISP mailing lists and got quite a response and stirred a bit of controversy.

I also launched, sooner than I had expected, a new blog that's mostly for fun - Broadband Wireless Internet Access Deadpool - www.bwiadeadpool.com. My friend Patrick Leary unwittingly started it off by posting a note to a mailing list musing about some of the companies that are dead and gone in the Broadband Wireless Internet Access industry, and a blatantly plagarized his posting.

One (temporary) Casualty Of Moving To TypePad - Googling Is Broken

One thing that I miss in the aftermath of the conversion to TypePad is that the Google Search on the (now on the left) sidebar doesn't work at the moment. Currently it returns results for the Blogger page archives, and it may well be a while before the entire site gets completely re-"spidered" by Google (and, I guess, the other search engines out there, whatever they are) and the Blogger page archives eventually age out.

The conversion to TypePad from (old) Blogger seems to have gone smoothly. When the dust settled on TypePad, there were only two "mystery posts" that showed up with no content. Not sure how those crept into (old) Blogger... And (old) Blogger did seem to recover when I reinstalled the original template and settings, despite the fact that during the conversion (old) Blogger never gave me any indication that (re)publishing was in fact progressing.

That said, one chore left to do is to look through all the monthly archives to see if drafts showed up. I hope not - some of my drafts are unintelligible and not worthy of being seen.

Import was successful!

The import from (old) Blogger to TypePad was successful. DNS has been repointed to the new site and by end of day Friday, February 9, 2007 DNS should have propagated to the far corners of the Internet... except Comcast (who seems to cache DNS abnormally long) users.

Import To TypePad In Progress

On Wednesday, February 7, 2007 we will attempt to import the content of Broadband Wireless Internet Access / WiMAX blog (the one you're reading now) into TypePad from "old" Blogger.

The import requires a more "generic" template to be applied, so many features, like my smiling visage and the rest of the sidebars, will be temporarily lost.

We're migrating to TypePad in order to increase our production of interesting stories about Broadband Wireless Internet Access and WiMAX.

I'll offer periodic updates about the status of the migration.
