Verizon wants to (preferably... :-) sell its Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) operations in upstate New York and the state of Hawaii. This article states that such sales typically garner valuations in excess of US$3,000 per access line, but Verizon's Hawaii operations won't fetch that much. Food for thought, considering the much greater cost-effectiveness of VOIP over BWIA...
