JRC, whose products I've admired for a long time in Marine Electronics and Amateur Radio, makes WIPAS:
WIPAS (Wireless IP Access System) is a broadband wireless point-to-multipoint communication system operating at 26 GHz that provides high-speed IP access up to 80 Mbps transmission rate.
What I found very interesting was that WIPAS operates at 26 GHz (in the US that band is used for satellite communications*) and it's rare for a band in that area of the spectrum used for BWIA systems intended for consumer use. Mostly that's because the equipment for that area of spectrum has been too expensive, but apparently JRC has worked around that issue.
I have no idea what the economics of the WIPAS system are, but it's interesting to speculate that in the US we do have a 24 GHz license-exempt band...
* Researched in seconds by referring to Bennet Z. Kobb's excellent book Wireless Spectrum Finder (now apparently only available from Amazon via download, not hardcopy.)
