Of course, I wasn't content to just have a mild case of mourning... if I was going to mourn at all, I wanted it to be a really good case of mourning, so I tried to find a browseable or searchable list of exhibitors and a brief description of what they do, to see if there were going to be any interesting new companies doing anything related to BWIA. No joy... closest I was able to come was a simple list of the names of the exhibitors, which is approximately useless for what I wanted.
A highly selective list of some of "the usual BWIA suspects" from a quick glance at the list:
- Airspan Networks
- Alvarion
- Aperto Networks
- BelAir Networks
- Ceragon Networks
- GigaBeam
- IPWireless
- Orthogon Systems
- Redline Communications
- SkyPilot Networks
- The SCO Group?!?!?!?! Surely not the... nah...
- Wi-Fi Alliance (now... wouldn't it be fun to hang out around that booth and overhear some of the conversations from the angst of the mobile telephony industry venting about how Wi-Fi is "really screwing things up for our industry" :-)
- WiMAX Forum... (ditto, but not nearly with the degree of dismay as with Wi-Fi.)
- Airvana (don't know them)
- IPWireless (know them)
- Motient - mobile telephone data and satellite (know them, but it's been a while; I remember them when they used to be ARDIS)
- SkyPilot Networks (know them)
- SOMA Networks (know them)
- Vanu - would have loved to talk to them about what BWIA capabilities their Software Defined Radio (SDR) might have, if any (don't know them).
