Good Day, BWIA (GDBWIA) is a light compendium of news, items of interest, irreverent commentary, and occasional light analysis relating to Broadband Wireless Internet Access (including WiMAX, public access Wi-Fi, etc.).
Things That Get Me Excited About BWIA Today? Well, the iPhone / iPod Touch just got a lot more interesting. My "enterprise wireless" slant is up at Tech Republic's Mobile and Wireless Blog - Apple (finally discusses iPhone / iPod Touch Software Development Kit. My agreement with TechRepublic is that I don't "compete" with the stories I write for them, so I don't have anything to add here, but I will add some emphasis that if you were skeptical that the iPhone was compelling, factor together the "iFund", the new 16 GB iPhone / 32 GB iPod Touch, and the upcoming "3G" iPhone due this year, and wow... what an interesting, cool, genuinely useful device it's going to be.
Clearwire Modem Weather Report - Hollywood Hill, Woodinville, Washington - Solid 4 Bars; clear and cold again here in "lesser Redmond" / "Woodinville Wine Country" - the OFDM and 2.5 GHz RF is "just loafin' along". (I write about my experiences as a Clearwire user, and about Clearwire the company and as a bellwether for the overall Broadband Wireless Internet Access / WiMAX industry in the Independent Clearwire Blog.
LTE Stands For "Late To Evolve" - On LTE and WiMAX ; entertaining read from WiMAX.com.
And that's about all the significant BWIA news on my RADAR at the moment. The Apple announcements dominate all things wireless today, and likely over the next few days at least. Good Day BWIA won't publish tomorrow, Friday March 7 due to my attendance at a retreat where I'll be "unplugging" from the Internet through Sunday. But I will be taking my OLPC XO, not so much to actually use it, but to contemplate the bigger picture of its creation, existence, and intended use. There's a real sense of mission, in the spiritual sense, with that little device, and that fits perfectly with my reason for attending, and what I'll be talking about, over the retreat weekend.
